Czech Republic wins team event at World Cup finals -

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP)—The Czech Republic edged Switzerland to win the Nations Team Event at the World Cup finals Sunday.
The competition involved four skiers form each nation—two men and two women—who competed individually against each other in a parallel slalom format. Each win is worth one point. The fastest time is used as a tiebreaker.
The Czechs and Swiss were 2-2 in the final and the Czechs won on Ondrej Bank’s fastest time. Bank was undefeated in all his heats.

Miller fails in record bid -

WHISTLER (Reuters) - American Bode Miller ended his Olympics with three Alpine skiing medals after his bid for a fourth ended when he straddled a gate in the final slalom on Saturday.
SportsIn probably his final Olympic appearance, the super combined gold medalist, who also won silver in super-G and bronze in downhill, joined a string of non-finishers in tricky conditions with fog limiting visibility and sleet falling.
"I just hooked a tip and it's obviously disappointing when you are fired up and skiing well and everything is there," Miller told reporters.
