The Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games provide an unprecedented opportunity to showcase Canada’s unique identity to the world. Canada is playing host to more than 80 countries, 30 of which are francophone nations, and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) is committed to providing a truly Canadian approach to hosting the Games in English and French, its official languages. As well as being the country’s official languages, English and French are also the official languages of the International Olympic Committee.
As part of its commitment to host the 2010 Winter Games in a distinctly Canadian way, VANOC has devoted a great deal of time and resources to ensure these Games reflect the country’s linguistic duality. From publications, competition schedules and athlete bios to cultural listings, wayfinding signage and advertising campaigns, everything is in place to ensure visitors stay connected and can easily plan their 2010 Winter Games experience in the official language of their choice. Daily host videos on vancouver2010.com capture competition updates and cultural highlights in both English and French, along with the latest Games news and competition results.
