Germany wins season-ending mixed relay -

KHANTY-MANSIYSK, Russia (AP)—Germany ended the biathlon season by winning the mixed relay world championship title Sunday in the final event on the World Cup calendar.

The German team of veteran Simone Hauswald, double Olympic gold medalist Magdalena Neuner, Simon Schempp and Arnd Peiffer finished the race in 1 hour, 19 minutes, 59.5 seconds. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen anchored Norway to the silver medal, finishing 1 minute, 24.0 seconds behind.

Sweden came in third, 1:30.8 back.

Paralympic wheelchair curling: Team Canada wins gold -

Canada beat Sweden 10-5 to advance to the gold-medal game in wheelchair curling at the Paralympic Games.  Jim Armstrong's crew will face Korea in the final, following Korea's 7-5 victory over the United States. Team Canada successfully defended its 2006 Paralymic wheelchair curling gold medal Saturday, defeating Korea 8-7 in the final played before a capacity crowd of 5,500 at the Hillcrest facility.

Swedish curler fails doping test at Paralympics -

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP)—A Swedish curler at the Paralympics has been banned for two years after failing a doping test.

Wheelchair curling fourth Glenn Ikonen says he didn’t know the blood pressure medication he was taking was on the banned list.

Ikonen, who was to throw the rocks in Friday’s match against Italy, told a news conference he was disappointed his doctor gave him medication that was on the banned list.

U.S. fends off Japan to win sledge hockey gold -

The 2009 world sledge hockey champion U.S. regained the Paralympic honours Saturday, winning the 2010 Games gold medal with a 2-0 win over a tenacious Japanese team Saturday afternoon at UBC Thunderbird Arena.

With the win the U.S. becomes the country to win two Paralympic sledge hockey gold medals. The U.S. won in 2002 in Salt Lake City. Sweden won gold when the sport made its Paralympic debut in Lillehammer in 1994. Norway won in Nagano in 1998 while Canada took gold in 2006 in Turin.

Swedish wheelchair curler suspended for use of an illegal drug -

VANCOUVER - They wrapped up first place in the round robin Wednesday, but Canada still doesn't know its semifinal playoff opponent at the 2010 Paralympic wheelchair curling event.

Bashing and smashing like an old Philadelphia Flyers NHL team of some reknown, Canada downed Norway 5-0 on Tuesday night to set up a sledge hockey semifinal meeting with Japan at the 2010 Paralympics.
