WHISTLER, B.C. ' Matt Hallat hasn't had an opportunity to do much ski race training the last few days, but it has allowed him to get better with a Ping-Pong paddle in his hand.
The single-leg amputee from Whistler is in the men's standing category, a group that has been waiting for three days to get a training run in for Saturday's downhill race that will launch the alpine schedule at the 2010 Paralympics.

VANCOUVER (Reuters) - The party in Vancouver kicked off hours before Canada faced the United States in the men's ice hockey gold medal game on Sunday, with crowds that could grow into the largest celebration the Winter Games has seen so far.

With the game sold out months before anyone knew which teams would be on the ice, hundreds of people - most wearing Canada's red and white colors - lined up outside of bars to watch it on television.

WHISTLER ' Thousands of voices shouted support, hundreds of Canadian flags filled the air and one Canadian athlete accepted gold.
'I hoped I would be wearing it and I certainly believed it was possible,' Jon Montgomery said Saturday just moments after a 2010 gold medal was placed around his neck after winning men's skeleton Friday night at the Whistler Sliding Centre.
