MOSCOW (AP)—Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Olga Medvedtseva of Russia,
whose career was marred by a doping violation that led to her being kicked out
of the Turin Games, is retiring from the sport.
Medvedtseva made the announcement after Sunday’s mixed relay race at the
World Cup finals in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, but said her mind has been made up
for some time.

Whistler (AFP) - Slovakia's Anastazia Kuzmina is in pole-position to claim a second biathlon gold medal when the women's 10km pursuit takes place on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old created an upset when she won the women's sprint on Saturday which qualifies her to start first in the pursuit when she will be followed by sprint silver medallist Magdalena Neuner who will start 1.5secs behind her.

VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Russia has been warned to get its anti-doping act together days before the start of the Vancouver Olympics after several of their athletes have been busted for taking banned drugs in the past months.

Russia, who will host the next winter Games in the Black Sea resort of Sochi in 2014, has been trying to root out cheats before the February 12-28 Vancouver Games with Alena Sidko, one of their top cross-country skiers, the latest offender.
