SINGAPORE, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The overwhelming success of
three-on-three basketball at the inaugural Youth Games is a
strong enough argument for both versions of the discipline to
be included at future Olympics, according to the sport’s
organisers.
Buoyed by strong attendances and a positive response at the
Youth Olympics in Singapore, International Federation
Basketball (FIBA) secretary general Patrick Baumann is already
seeking ways to take the smaller form of the sport to a bigger
stage.

Eastern European skiers dominated the cross-country skiing distance races at Pragelato Plan. However, North American women made plenty of noise in the sprint events, with one unheralded skier reaching the top of the podium at her first Olympics.
Pursuit (February 12, 2006)
The cross-country pursuit events were contested in a new format at the Torino Games. Instead of two separate races, the pursuit took place as a combined competition in which the first half was carried out in the classical technique and the second in the freestyle technique. At the halfway point, skiers changed boots, skis and poles in a designated area and switched from a classical to a freestyle technique.
