VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP)—A Swedish curler at the Paralympics has been
banned for two years after failing a doping test.
Wheelchair curling fourth Glenn Ikonen says he didn’t know the blood
pressure medication he was taking was on the banned list.
Ikonen, who was to throw the rocks in Friday’s match against Italy, told a
news conference he was disappointed his doctor gave him medication that was on
the banned list.

VANCOUVER (AP) -- John Morris hustled to the edge of the curling ice and grabbed the Maple Leaf from his sister.
He carried the flag onto the ice and lifted it to share with an arena, and a country. From British Columbia to his home in neighboring Alberta and all the way to the Maritimes, Canada's second straight gold medal in men's curling resonated well beyond Vancouver.
"Canada's been helping us out all week cheering us on with an incredible crowd and we wanted to give a little back to them and thank them," Morris said following Canada's 6-3 victory over Norway on Saturday. "It's still sort of surreal that we have a gold around our neck. It's the best day of my life right now."

No Love for Curling -
18-02-2010 (06:36)
Well, I wanted to give a little boost to curling tonight. There were a lot of matches played today, but I had problems trying to view it on my computer and none of the TV stations were showing the matches. Looks like the sport most ignored by the US will remain that way!
Here’s what’s going on so far:

VANCOUVER (AP) -- Every four years, Americans tune in to check out Olympic curling -- even if they don't quite understand what they're watching.
The quirky sport with the sweeping is back on the air starting Tuesday, when the men's and women's tournaments begin at the Vancouver Games. A curiosity in the U.S. but a pastime here in Canada, the event figures to draw some spirited crowds to its 5,600-seat arena in a quiet residential part of town.

VANCOUVER ' There's an irony that the greatest curling competition on the planet will be played in a building that wouldn't be considered suitable to host a Brier.
But that's not the point of the Vancouver Olympic Centre, said the president of the World Curling Federation on Sunday during the first on-ice practices.
