BURBANK, Calif. (AP)—Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na is set to
train in Los Angeles. Although for how long and under whose tutelage still
remains to be seen.
Since splitting from her longtime coach Brian Orser in a public spat last
month, Kim had remained coy on her future plans.
Kim eliminated some of the mystery on Tuesday, confirming she would be
moving her training base from Canada to Artesia on the outskirts of Los Angeles.

Olympic champion Kim Yu-na has split from her coach, Brian Orser, in a move
that has taken many by surprise—Orser included.
Three weeks after Kim’s mother, Park Mi-hee, informed him he was no longer
the coach, Orser said on Tuesday he still doesn’t know the reasons behind the
decision. He doesn’t even know if the decision was Kim’s.
A statement from Kim’s management company, AT Sports, didn’t explain why the
South Korean star left Orser, saying only that relations between the skater and
coach had been “uncomfortable” since May. But Kim, who turns 20 on Sept. 5,
was not at the Aug. 2 meeting featuring her mother, Orser and fellow coach Tracy
Wilson, and she continues to train at the Toronto rink where she’s worked with
Orser since 2006.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP)—Olympic champion Kim Yu-na has parted ways with
coach Brian Orser.
Orser’s management agency IMG said in a statement Tuesday that Kim’s mother
Park Mi-hee informed the coach on Aug. 2 that “he would no longer be retained”
to coach the 19-year-old skater. IMG said “no reason was given for the sudden
and unexpected decision.”
Kim’s management company AT Sports later released a statement saying
relations between the skater and coach have been “uncomfortable” since May.

Mike Blake, Reuters
VANCOUVER ' He did the math when Vancouver was awarded the Olympics. And since seven isn't such a big number and Scott Niedermayer is a clever person, he knew he'd be 36 when the Winter Games were staged in his province.
