ANCIENT OLYMPIA, Greece (AP)—Greek officials have conducted a full dress
rehearsal for the lighting of the Olympic flame that will burn at the inaugural
Youth Olympics in Singapore next month.
Standing in front of the 2,600-year-old Temple of Hera, an actress dressed
as an ancient priestess used a concave mirror to light a silver torch with the
sun’s rays Thursday.

Looking wan and tired, and occasionally downcast, Furlong told reporters at a closing press conference his energetic "blue jackets" ' the volunteer backbone of two remarkable Games ' may wish for another week of fun, but he certainly doesn't.

WHISTLER ' Russia repeated as Paralympic women's cross-country relay champions on Saturday, beating out the Ukraine by 19.5 seconds at Whistler Paralympic Park.
Canada was fourth, missing a medal by 17 seconds.
Maria Iovleva, Mikhalina Lysova and Liubov Vasilyeva crossed in a time of 20 minutes 23.3 seconds to claim Russia's 10th gold and 29th medal of these Games, by far the most of any nation.
