Norway wins Nordic combined WCup team event -

OSLO (AP)—Magnus Moan anchored Norway to victory in a Nordic combined World Cup team event Saturday, overtaking Mario Stecher on the final leg of the cross country race.

The Norwegian team, which also included Mikko Kokslien, Jan Schmid and Petter Tande, finished the 20K relay in 49 minutes, 13.3 seconds. Austria was 7.3 seconds back, with Germany more than a minute behind in third.

Ski jumping (Team): Austrian ‘Eagles’ soar to success -

Whistler (AFP) - Austria's invincible ski-jumpers soared to a convincing Olympic gold medal on Monday in the team event for a record-tying fifth consecutive title at major competitions.

Young gun Gregor Schlierenzauer just managed to stay on his skis in the final jump of the day to lead the 'Eagles' to victory over Germany and Norway.

Germany won the gold medal Monday in the ladies' team sprint free event, with a finish time of 18:03.7. Sweden nabbed the silver at only 06 seconds behind (18:04:3), and the Russian Federation came third, with a time of 18:07.7.

WHISTLER '€” Todd Lodwick is not inclined to establish modest goals or make cautious statements.

The American-born Lodwick, a fifth-time Winter Olympian in Nordic combined, predicted in late December that this year's competition at Whistler Olympic Park would raise eyebrows.

Ski jumping: Austria wins team gold medal -

Whistler (AFP) - Austria comprehensively won the ski-jump team gold medal at the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games on Monday with Germany taking silver and Norway the bronze.

The Austrian team scored 1107.9 points to Germany's 1035.8 and Norway's 1030.2 for a comfortable victory

Ski jumping: End of the line for Ahonen -

Whistler (AFP) - Finnish veteran Janne Ahonen reached the end of the Olympic line on Sunday when he pulled out of Monday's team ski jump with a knee injury, coach Janne Vaatainen said.

Ahonen, three times a fourth-placed finisher in individual Olympic events, came out of retirement to try to land gold at the age of 32 but failed to qualify for the second round of Saturday's large hill.

WHISTLER, British Columbia (AP)—The Austrians have soared to the gold medal in the Olympic team ski jump, capped by 20-year-old Gregor Schlierenzauer’s final amazing 146.5-meter jump.

Austria defended its title from the Turin Games with 1,107.9 points Monday.

Whistler (AFP) - Austria start as Olympic Games favourites in the ski jump team event on Monday, buoyed by the knowledge that Switzerland's Simon Ammann, the winner of both individual titles, will not be taking part.

Ammann's golden double - his second Olympic pair after the 2002 Games at Salt Lake City - left the Austrians reeling.
