TAMPA/VANCOUVER, Feb. 26: Peace and Sport added Korean Air chairman Yang-Ho Cho to the growing list of ambassadors during a reception held last week at the World Olympians Association reunion center in Vancouver.
Cho said, "I am deeply honoured to be invited to become an Ambassador for this great organization. I strongly believe that sport can change lives and help to spread peace around the world. Peace and Sport opens the way to promote this noble cause and the entire team from Korean Air is delighted to get involved. "
IOC Member, Prince Albert of Monaco, together with founder and president of the Peace and Sport Organization, Joel Bouzou, presented Cho with the emblem of the dove to symbolize his commitment.
"President Cho and I share a common conviction: that sport can help shape a more peaceful world," acclaimed Bouzou.
”I am very impressed by his dedication to our movement and his many international goodwill activities, both through the Korean Table Tennis Association and as Head of Korean Air. We are extremely pleased that from now on, we can count on his support to promote sport as a tool for peace-building and to raise awareness amongst decision-makers in sport and politics."
Cho is also a sportsman himself and is serving as head of the Korean Table Tennis Association and as a member of the Korean Olympic Committee. He is also involved with the Hanjin Group in Korea one of the largest international transport conglomerates.
The Peace and Sport organization has an ever expanding list of prestigious ambassadors such as IOC vice-president, Mario Pescante, IOC members Prince Nawaf Faisal Fahd Abdulaziz, Hicham El Guerrouj, Sir Philip Craven, plus Wilfried Lemke, advisor to UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, former president of the Swiss Confederation Adolf Ogi, Russian president of Onexim Mikhail Prokhorov, and Monaco based AS Monaco football clue and the head of Mercure International Adnan Houdrouge.
The Peace and Sport organization has the patronage of Prince Albert of Monaco and its mission is to promote sustainable peace by raising awareness and educating youth about peace using the structuring values of sport.
